Hui Updates

Kia ora whanau, here is an update of the Waitaha Executive Grandmothers Council up coming hui:

 

  1. Ministry of Business

This Hui has been requested by the Ministry of Business who wish to speak with the Grandmothers Council. The Hui will be held in Whangarei on Friday 3rd March and location details will be listed as soon as we have them.

On request of the WEGC MP Marama Davidson will be attending.

 

2. Whanaungatanga Hui for North and South Island Waitaha Iwi members.

The WEGC have been granted a $3000 whanaungatanga fund from Te Puni Kokiri to go towards a hui for Waitaha Iwi members to come together and discuss their histories, whakapapa and stories. Tohunga Robin Whanga (Tainui) will be attending.

The fund does not fully cover a 3 day hui which will be held in Wellington (the half way point between North and South Island). Future fund raising will need to occur before the details can be finalised.

 

3. Fresh Water Inquiry Hui

WEGC have been asked by Woodward Law to participate and meet with a panel of 4 academics preparing a report for the Fresh Water Inquiry.

4. Hawaiian Grandmothers Tohunga Rongoa Hui

The first visit of the Tohunga Rongoa of Hawaii, at request of our Hawaiian representative Lelani Petranek the WEGC will be meeting at Earth Spirit, Bethells Beach Auckland.

Grandmother Lelani Petranek will be holding Rongoa hui throughout Aotearoa.
